Don Vail “Fades”

Don Vail’s new EP, Fades, is an absolute triumph for the Ontario group.  It kicks off with “Personal League,” the warm and catchy single, which pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the EP.  It’s definitely rock music, full of guitar riffs, wide basslines, and even some pretty hardcore drumming.  But it’s also so much more.

In their own way, Don Vail have managed to achieve a perfect balance between songcraft and sonic experimentation.  The album gushes with pop hooks, atmospheric vocals, and a cornucopia of sounds that harken back to the glory days of ’90s alt rock and shoegaze.  Put simply, it’s a dose of blissed out indie rock that you will want to take more than a few times.
