Canshaker Pi is helping to usher indie rock back to its snarky, early ‘90s heyday. On the band’s new EP, For Ed, they continue to wear their influences on their sleeves, showing just how much their sound owes to bands like the Pixies, Pavement and Nirvana. The comparisons are numerous, but that doesn’t really matter. What’s important is that these self-described “rich white kids from Amsterdam” are very good at making super catchy slacker rock. Watch for their full-length debut (produced by Stephen Malkmus of Pavement) later this year.
