Twist “Spectral”

Inspired by the likes of Blondie and The Jesus and Mary Chain, Toronto act Twist have released Spectral, their long awaited debut LP.  The album is awash with fuzzy noise and post-punk pop hooks, results of the extended labours of singer/songwriter Laura Hermiston and her collaborators, including Charles Rowell (Crocodiles) and bandmate-turned-producer Brian Borcherdt (Fucked Up).  For such a collaborative effort, the album is remarkably consistent, almost playing like one extended song.  It’s a rare quality in an album full of hits, and another indicator of Twist’s talent in creating a feeling that carries you through their hazy world from start to finish.
