Communism’s debut album, Get Down Get Together, definitely sounds like the work of some very experienced musicians. The Toronto three-piece is a creative, precise, and well-informed affair fronted by renowned producer/musician Don Kerr. They’re all about contrasts, showing themselves to be hard-hitting, yet melodic on almost every song on the album. They also experiment with a number of different musical styles, even throwing in a few surprises in the forms of odd time signatures and quirky harmonies. While firmly sticking to their vision, Communism sound like they’re having a lot of fun, which makes for a particularly thrilling debut.
